The basketball team of 24 Division becomes the champions of the Inter-Division Basketball Tournament beating 22 Division by 75 - 70 points as the finals drew to the closure at the SF HQ (East) basketball court amidst a large gathering of sports lovers and supporters.
Commander Security Forces East Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, extending his support to Army Basketball players who had their final round of the tournament at SF HQ (E) premises on Friday (02) evening, was a witness to the final tussle.
The tournament which was organized by 24 Division commenced on 25 January with the participation of basketball teams of SF HQ (E), 22 Division, 23 Division. 24 Division and FMA (E). Being the Chief Guest at the final tussle, Major General Santhusitha Pananwala gave away the Championship trophy and other merit awards to the runners-up in the tournament. The best performances displayed on the courts by the Army players ensured the following awards:
Best Shooter - Lt TCA Ranaweera SLNG -24Division
Best Player - L / Cprl Gunawardhana SDMA -22Division
GOC 22 Div Maj Gen Aruna Jayasekera, Comd FMA (E) Maj Gen Manoj Mudannayaka, GOC 24 Div Maj Gen Mahinda Mudalige, GOC 23 Div Brig Chula Abenayaka and Senior Officers were present at the event.
