Under the direction and guidance of the Commander Security Forces – East, General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division and Commander 233 Infantry Brigade; the troops of 9th Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery constructed a new house for an 8 years old child (Nilusha Chamidu kumara) who lost his farther at his early age and living with his grandmother and his beloved mother (disabled) in a small shack at Mahawewa, Kolakanawadiya.
The newly constructed house was warmed on 25th October 2023, on the 8th birthday of Nilusha in a charming ceremony. Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG the Commander Security Forces – East graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Divisional Secretary- Welikanda, senior army officers and civil officials were among the invitees. The beneficiaries received the key from the Chief Guest and the family was gifted with school accessories, few home appliances and food items by the invitees.
The project was a great success, with financial and material support received from government authorities, well-wishers, and local donors of the area. The Commanding Officer 9th Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery Lieutenant Colonel MIS Chandrakumara USP psc IG SLA and all ranks of the unit carried out the construction works.
