As per the conceptual direction and notion of the Commander of the Army in line with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, the troops of 7th Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery built a new residence at Maharathmale-Minneriya to a non-commissioned officer of the 7th Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery under the guidance of the Commander, Security Force Headquarters (East) and General Officer Commanding - 23 Infantry Division and the supervision of the Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade.
S/167900 Bdr Kumara HMAP, who resides with his wife and three childrens, is facing significant economic hardships. The former Commanding Officer Lt Col RNCY Ramanayakepsc IG laid the foundation for this house construction work on 16 June 2024. Thereafter, the present Commanding Officer Lt Col TMCB Telwadana RSP USP psc IG, together with Officers and soldiers have completed the construction work after finding the required financial and material assistance through family members and friends.
The newly constructed house was officially handed over to S/167900 Bdr Kumara HMAP and his family at the auspicious time amidst with religious rites and rituals on 30 October 2024 by Major General S A Kulathunga RWP RSP VSV USP psc the Commander, Security Force Headquarters (East) on the invitation of the Commanding Officer of the 7th Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Lt Col TMCB Telwadana RSP USP psc IG SLA. The General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division Maj Gen W P Kariyawasam, Brigadier General Staff - Security Force Headquarters (East) Brig W S V Fernando USP ndc IG, Artillery Brigade Commander Brig T G I A Ariyarathne RSP IG, the Officiating Commander of 231 Infantry Brigade Col M G A Malandeniya USP, Commandant of School of Artillery Col K S P Pothupitiya USP psc IG, Senior Officers, Officers, Assistant District Secretary of HingurakgodaMrs M M S R K Senevirathne, Government officials, donors and villagers also attended the event.
