The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, together with the Batticaloa District Mining Licensees’ Association, generously donated 200 dry ration bags and clothing items valued at approximately Rs. 1.1 million and distributed among families in the Chenkaladi and Eravur areas who were affected by the recent flooding. The programme was conducted under the special direction of the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen KW Jayaweera USP psc and the support of the Commander 243 Infantry Brigade Brigadier KMUP Kalupahana USP psc.
The event took place at 0900 hrs on 08 December 2025 with the participation of Brigadier KMUP Kalupahana USP psc Commander 243 Infantry Brigade along with a team of 02 × 05 troops from the 243 Infantry Brigade.
The contribution from the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau andBatticaloa District Mining Licensees’ Association, together with the dedicated support of the 243 Infantry Brigade, played a vital role in addressing the urgent needs of flood-affected communities in Chenkaladi and Eravurarea, strengthening civilmilitary cooperation and delivering timely humanitarian assistance.
