Embarking on the journey of constructing a home for an army soldier is a noble and rewarding endeavor. Soldiers sacrifice a great deal for their country, and providing them with a comfortable and secure place to call home is a meaningful way to express gratitude. Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Prasanna Gunaratne along with Mrs. Nayomi Ranaweera, Chairperson Sewa Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps understood this much neediness requirement of L/Cpl Subhashini DMN who belongs to 3 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, presently serving at Security Forces Headquarters (East), laid the foundation stone to commence the construction of a new house in general area Welikanda on 28 December 2023 in brief ceremony. Resident Project Manager Welikanda of Mahaweli Authority Sri Lanka Mr. Sugath Senevirathne contributed the project by donating 20 perches land plot and the much needed financial support for this project was provided by Mr. Gengasuthan Mylvaganam upon the request of Commander Security Forces (East).
Accordingly, Garrison Engineers-Welikanda under Security Forces East will undertake the project providing manpower and technical expertise for the proposed house for the soldier and family. The brief ceremony for the day was concluded with the blessings of all religious representatives and a planting of a sapling.
The event was further attended by General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division Major General Nilantha Premarathne, all staff officers of Security Forces East and other invitees.
