FIRST BATCH OF TAMIL WOMEN RECRUITS PASS OUT IN SF HQ ( EAST )
As per the concept of the Secretary of Defense and Urban Development and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and direction given by the Commander security Force ( East ) , 36 Tamil women recruits enlisted to 5(V) SLAWC were passed out at 22 Division - Trincomalee on 23 Aug 2014 after the completion of 04 months training at 5 (V) SLAWC. Brig R Shanmuganathan Hdmc Lsc was the Chief Guest and Comd SF (East) participated as the Guest of Honour.
Apart from military training, they acquired Sinhala, English language proficiency, computer literacy and knowledge on self-employment. During the training period they were taken on no of field trips where they could visit different areas in the country.
Trophies were awarded to the best overall performances as follows.
Best platoon commander - O/8343 Lt NH Uyangoda SLAWC
Best platoon Sergeant - S/5R00131 Sgt Priyadarashani KPI
Best section commander - S/5R00846 Cpl Sadamali Sirirathna DH
Best physical fitness - S/79959 Rec Weerapandiyan W
Best Recruit /Outstanding performance of the course - S/79962 Rec Rajitha D
During the Event Eight scooters were distributed among the selected recruits by Commander Security Force ( East ) Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG.
GOC 22 Division, Senior Officers, Government Officials, Religious Leaders, Senior Officers from Air Force, Police and parents of the passed out Recruits were attended for the occasion and Refreshment/ Lunch were given to all participants.
