In a bid to foster leadership qualities among the youth and shape the leaders of tomorrow, the General Officer Commanding the 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc has initiated a groundbreaking leadership programme tailored for sixty-five students of AM/ Kawanthissa Maha Vidyalaya Ampara. The programme was held on 14 March 2024 at 24 Infantry Division. This innovative endeavor aims to empower young minds with essential skills, values, and perspectives crucial for effective leadership in today's dynamic world.
The leadership programme, is designed to inspire, educate, and mentor young individuals toward becoming influential leaders in their respective spheres. Through a series of interactive workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities, students are equipped with valuable leadership principles, communication techniques, and problem-solving strategies.
One of the core pillars of the programme is the emphasis on the importance of Sri Lankan history, character development, and resilience. Participants are encouraged to cultivate integrity, empathy, and perseverance, traits essential for navigating challenges and leading with integrity. Through experiential learning, they were capable of making a positive impact.
The programme emphasizes the value of teamwork and synergy. Students engage in, group discussions, and team-building exercises to hone their interpersonal skills and foster mutual respect. By working towards common goals, participants learn effective collaboration, which is essential for driving collective success.
Under the mentorship of the General Officer Commanding, students were encouraged to dream of their future, think innovatively, and envision a better future. Through inspirational talks, brainstorming sessions, and creative problem-solving activities, participants learned to think outside the box, challenge the status quo, and spearhead positive change in their generation.
The leadership programme stands as a testament to the commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders. By imparting invaluable skills, and instilling timeless values, the programme empowers students to embrace their potential and emerge as visionary leaders to shape a brighter tomorrow. With strong foundations in leadership, character, and collaboration, these young students were well-equipped to navigate the modern world and make a lasting difference in society.
In addition to the leadership programme, the General Officer Commanding distributed 65 Mee Trees (Madhucalongifolia) among the students for the benefit of environmental protection. Further, students and teachers were treated to a delicious lunch and morning and evening tea.
Senior officers, officers, and other ranks serving under the 24 Infantry Division, the principal of the respective school, along with the teaching staff of the schools, attended the programme.
