The Eastern Commander, Major General Darshana Wijesekera exposed the "Kotha" of the Keviliyamaduwa Pansalgala Abhinawarama temple stupa of Batticaloa district during the middle of the religious rituals of "Maha Sangha" on Sunday (02 July). At the invite of Ampara and Batticaloa districts Sanghanayake, Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero, and subsidiary council members, the Eastern Commander participated in the liturgy of exposing the "Koth Wahanse".
The Abhinawarama temple stupa was constructed by the troops of Civil Defence Force with the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel DLYA Lakpura, Commanding Officer of Mahaoya Civil Defence Force and the subsidiary council of the Abhinawarama temple. The construction start with the donation of retired Principal Mrs. Gunawathi Perera. After that Mr. and Mrs. Bandaranayake resident from the United Kingdom, Mr. Rasika Lakmal, Mrs. Pushpa Hettiararchchi, local and foreign devotional donors are hands together to the made possible the "Chethiya Ananda Stupa".
Major General Darshana Wijesekera, the Commander of Security Forces - East took place as a chief guest at the event and Major General Ranjan Lamahewa, Director General of Civil Defence Force also associated with the Eastern Commander at the event. Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Brigade Commander of the 231 Infantry Brigade, Staff officers of the Security Force Headquarters - East and 231 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer 11 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment with officers and other ranks of the battalion were present at the event. Also "Maha Sanga", donors and devotional people of the Keviliyamaduwa area gathered for this liturgy event at the Abhinawarama temple.
