22 Infantry Division to develop harmony among the races and sports skills of the youth sector covering the Tambalagamuwa, Kinniya, and Muthur area, a cricket tournament was organized from 22.02.2023 to 26.02.2023 by the 6 Sri Lanka Armored Corps and the 15 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry with 223 Infantry Brigade.
46 teams participated in the cricket tournament, and tournament held at the Tambalagamuwa Public Stadium. BMS team - Kinniya and "HEAVEN ELEVEN" team - Kinniya qualified for the final match, and the final match was held on Sunday (February 26). Also, the BMS team - Kinniya won the championship of the tournament, and the "HEAVEN ELEVEN" Kinniya team - won the runner-up in the tournament.
Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, of Security Forces (East) participated as the chief guest in the finals of the tournament. Mr. BHN Jayawickrama, the District Secretary of Trincomalee, Major General Saliya Amunugama, the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, the Brigade Commander, 223 Infantry Brigade, the Divisional Secretaries of the area, Commanding Officer, Parakumbha Navy Camp, Assistant Superintendent of Police Morawewa, Commanding Officers of 6 Sri Lanka Armored Corps and 15 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, officers, other ranks and dignitaries with cricket fans of the area presented to watch the final tournament at Tambalagamuwa Stadium.
To organize this tournament successfully and financial sponsorship contribute for trophies are the heads of institutions of all government/non-government institutions and supported by Divisional Secretariat Tambalamuwa. To make the finals of this cricket tournament more colorful, the Sri Lanka Service Corps Band, the Taekwondo team and cultural dance team of the 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment, and the cultural dance team of District Secretariat Tambalagamuwa. The Zonal Director of Education and the staff with students of Kollam Kutitam College Tambalagamuwa also provided support for the tournament.
