DONATION OF DRY RATION PACKETS TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN THE AKKARAEIPATTHU AREA, BY THE 241 INFANTRY BRIGADE

With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc with the coordination of the Commander 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, 100 Dry Ration Packets were distributed among low-income families in Akkaraeipattu area on 15 July 2023.

The ration packets, (each worth Rs. 5100.00), have been donated by the Chinese Buddhist temples and Chinese Buddhist People in the Peoples’ Republic of China as a gesture of goodwill. Mr. Nishantha Witharana and Mr. Udaya Karunarathna, were the main facilitators of the donation program, and they have arranged the dry ration packets in coordination with the Chinese Buddhist temples and Chinese Buddhist People. The ration packets were distributed among the needy families’ students of Akkareipattu Dharmarathana Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya and Damruwan Pre-school at Akkareipattuwa Sri Vijayarama temple with the blessings of the chief incumbent venerable Dewagoda Soratha thero. The beneficiaries highly appreciated and praised this initiative of the Sri Lanka Army and the goodwill of the Chinese Buddhist People, as it was a great relief to them at a time of economic hardship.

The General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc participated as the chief guest of the event and Commander 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, staff officers, and other ranks of 241 Infantry Brigade also took part of the programme.
