Donation programme initiated by 223 Infantry Brigade, was successfully conducted on 26 February 2026 at 1430 hrs at the Muthur Cultural Hall with the aim of supporting deserving schoolchildren within the Brigade AOR.
School bags and stationery items were distributed to 270 schoolchildren from low income families residing within the AOR and to 50 children of Army personnel and civilian employees serving in units under command to the 223 Infantry Brigade. In addition, electric water purification systems were donated to T/Mu/Imam Shafi College and to under command units of the Brigade to enhance access to safe drinking water.
The programme was made possible through the generous financial contribution of Mr. UM Chamara Priyantha, Proprietor of Chamara Stickers (Pvt) Ltd, Kadawatha, Kirillawala. The General Officer commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General WBMKGK Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
A total of 06 x 20 troops were detailed from the Brigade to coordinate and conduct the programme, which was successfully concluded with the active participation and cooperation of all stakeholders.
This initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Army to foster goodwill, strengthen civil military relations, and support the educational and welfare needs of communities within its AOR.
