DISTRIBUTION OF NUTRIENT PACKS FOR PREGNANT MOTHERS IN ARALAGANWILA AREA

Considering the nourishment requirement of pregnant mothers of low-income families, the 231 Infantry Brigade distributed dry ration packs among 75pregnant mothers residing in Aralaganwila area in Polonnaruwa district on Thursday (02 Nov) at the Aralaganwila“Pratibha” auditorium. Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG the Commander, Security Forces (East), graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces (East) provided the conceptual guidance to launch the programme. The event was organized under the supervision of Major General Nilantha Premarathna RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, and Brigadier DilanthaJayawardana RSP, the Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade. Major GS Ranasingha RWP RSP USP, Commanding Officer, 12thGemunu Watch, and his troops organized the event.

The cost of the project is worth approximately Rs.500,000 and it was sponsored by the famous cricketer RoshanMahanama and retired Major General KumuduPerera, on the request of the Commander, Security Forces (East). Cultural dances performed by Vilayaya Central College students added glamour to the event. Moreover, the pregnant mothers were provided the snack packs and tea. After the event, the Commander Security Forces (East)had a few minutes of leisure time with the students of Vilayaya Central College, who performed the cultural dances. Moreover, the students and their dancing teachers appeared for a group photo with the Eastern Commander.

The principal–Vilayaya Central College, Aralaganwila, Mr GHP Kumara and the Mahaweli B Zone Block Manager were among the invitees.
