On 19 January 2025 at 1500 hr 8th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, upon a request from the Thirukkovil Divisional Secretary, removed a largefallen Kaayatree on Colombo to Batticaloa A4 road in thambatta areadue to adverse weather condition, by 01x10 Troops of the 8th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, with the cooperation of members of the Telecom Company - Akkarepattuand support of residents in the area.
This Operation was conducted under the direction of the Genaral Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen HCL Galappathti RSP USP, and Over looking Brigade Commander 242 Infantry Brigade Col TKDD harmasena RWP RSP with the close supervision of Commanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard Maj EDSK Deniyaya.
