DILMA EXTENDS BENEVOLENCE TO THE PEOPLE IN THE EASTERN PROVINCE
The Dilma Conservation and MJF Foundation launched its biggest community project at Kalkudah in the Eastern Province on 03rd February 2017, known as MJF Centre for Dignified and Sustainable Empowerment.\r\nThis mammoth project consists of Rainbow Centre for children with special needs, the MJF Kids’ Center, Vocational Training Unit for Carpentry, Masonry, Culinary, Hospitality, IT and Graphics, Art and Crafts with dormitory facilities, Library, an Organic Farm with Cashew processing, Market Place and Waste Management Unit, with many other facilities and the estimated cost for the total project is Rs 500 mn.\r\nThe project aims to empower the needy people in the community with special emphasis on differently abled and socially challenged persons, youth, women, and children by providing them with necessary skills, mentorship, technology and other support for sustainable livelihood while preserving their dignity.\r\nThe Army troops deployed in the Eastern Province have partnered with the Dilma Conservation over many years to maintain cashew plant nurseries in the Eastern Province which has a great impact to uplift the economy and living standards of the people, whilst contributing to enhance the greenery in the Eastern Province.\r\nThe foundation stones were laid by Mr Merrill J Fernando the founder and the Chairman of the MJF Foundation along with the directors of the MJF group. Maj Gen Darshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces (East), Maj Gen Dammika Pananwala RSP ndu GOC 23 Div, Col Chandra Jayaweera RSP psc Comd 233 Bde and Senior Army Officers too attended the event on the invitation of the MJF Group symbolizing the long standing partnership and friendship of the Dilma Conservation and MJF Foundation with the Army in the Eastern region of the country.\r\n
