A delegation from the High Commission of Canada, Colombo paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters - East on Monday the 18th of September 2023. Mr. Harsha Senanayake, Security/ Readiness Programme Officer, and Mr. Ron Bebusschere of Military Police Security Services of Canadian High Commission made the first call to Commander, Security Forces East, starting the “Readiness Programme Outreach” to Eastern Province.
The visitors were welcomed by Major General M K U P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces - East, on their arrival at the Eastern Headquarters and had a cordial discussion on emergency preparedness, disaster response, and security-related matters. The aim of the visit is to establish a strong network with key government stakeholders and foster collaborative partnership to ensure optimal mission preparedness.
During the meeting, the Eastern Commander briefed the role and tasks of the Security Forces - East with special emphasis on reconciliation, development, and assistance provided by the Army to the general public for their day-to-day affairs.
The delegation left to Trincomalee and Batticaloa to continue with the “Readiness Programme Outreach” in the Eastern Province.
