The foundation stone laying for the construction of one more new house for a needy family living in Seruwila was held on 12 May 2024 during a simple ceremony.
This program was organized by the troops of the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (9 VIR) on the instructions and supervision of the Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade. Dr. Pooja Shakoor living in the USA coordinated by Venerable Aludeniye Subhodi thero the chief incumbant of Seruwila Raja MahaViharaya, made financial sponsorship for those constructions, to be done by 9 VIR troops.
The General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division, Major General P.A.M Peiris RSP USP psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Commanding Officer of 9 VIR, Officers, Other Ranks, and the beneficiary were present during the inaugural ceremony.
