COMMANDER’S VISIT TO THE HEADQUARTERS 24 DIVISION AMPARA

At the invitation of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusiha Pananwala, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake\ visited the Headquarters of 24 Division and Combat Training School Ampara on 28 June 18 and met a large section of serving officers and other rankers.

The Commander was welcomed by the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, and General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General Mahinda Mudalige at the Army Commander’s Bungalow Ampara. The Commander of the Army was accorded with a colourful Drive Pass at 24 Division Headquarters by the troops of 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment followed by a troops address. During the speech, the Commander spelt out his vision and the mission and urged the troops to perform their responsibilities for the best of their ability for the future of the Sri Lanka Army. Moreover, he repeatedly emphasized the great negotiation and security measures taken by the General Officer Commanding together with his under command troops to ensure the communal harmony in the Ampara District. At the end of the speech, as a symbol of appreciation, a special memento was presented to the Commander by the General Officer Commanding of 24 Division.

The Commander ceremonially opened the newly constructed accommodation building for senior officers which consists with five comfortable rooms with all furniture and other accessories. In the evening, the Commander met with selected Government Official heads of Ampara District together with all Military Commanders, Senior Police Officers of Eastern Province and discussed their views regarding the present security situation in the country.

On following day, the Commander attended the Relics Exposition at Buddhangala Hermitage together with Commander Security Force (East) and General Officer Commanding 24 Division.
