COMMANDER SF (EAST) VISITED FIELD FORMATIONS TO GREET SOLDIERS IN THE NEW YEAR

As the successive New Year 2019 dawns, the Commander Security Force (East), Major General Aruna Jayasekera paying his obedience to religion, had a series of field visits to 22, 23 and 24 Divisions, under command Brigades and Battalions while having courtesy calls on multi-religious dignitaries of the Eastern Province. Commencing from historic Somawathiya Temple concurrent with the visit of His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena at the sacred premises, the Commander joined in special religious observances with the President and the Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith to invoke blessings. Further, he visited Seruwila Rajamaha Viharaya, Koneshwaram Kovil Trincomalee, Bishop’s House Batticaloa and several other premier religious places. After joining in religious rituals, the Commander exchanged views with the dignitaries on matters of national and religious importance pertaining to Eastern Province in the New Year.

The visiting Commander attended the formalities at each location after being warmly received by the Formation Commanders and inspected the administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops. He extended New Year greetings to the troops while underlining that, as the 'Guardians of the Nation', the soldiers should remain all the time updated on their role and be always prepared to extend services while winning the hearts and minds of the general public. He further underlines that, being the members of a professional Army the soldiers should constantly maintain the highest standards of discipline and should refrain from activities which demote the image of this prestigious organization.

Meanwhile, the Security Force Headquarters (East) commenced work of the first working day on 01.01.2019 having accomplished customary military formalities on the directions of Commander Security Force (East), Major General Aruna Jayasekera.
