COMMANDER SF EAST JOINS BREAKING OF FAST- 'IFTHAR' RITUAL

Showing the solidarity and friendship with Muslim community in the Eastern Province, Major General Aruna Jayasekera, Commander Security Forces (East) joined several ceremonies to celebrate ‘Ifthar’, breaking of fast on account of forthcoming Ramadan festival.

The Commander Security Forces (East) attended as the Chief Guest for these Ifthar ceremonies held at An-Noor National School, Valachchenai on Thursday 30th May, at Jummah Mosque Nindavur on Friday 31st May and at Urban Council, Eravur on Saturday 01st June amidst a host of distinguished invitees, including religious leaders, Islamic leaders of ‘Ulama’ congregations of Islamic faith, together with Moulavis of the areas, Government Officials, Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army, Police personnel too attended to end the fast at sunset.

Addressing the ceremonies, the Commander SF (East) eulogized the Ramadan teachings for guiding the Muslim brothers and sisters to be self-disciplined and self-restraint together with the qualities of compassion, tolerance and generosity upon which sustainable inter-religious harmony and reconciliation could be built, fostering the way to a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society for future generations of the Eastern Province.
