COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES – EAST MAKES HIS FIRST VISIT TO 24 INFANTRY DIVISION HEADQUARTERS

Major General Sujeewa Hetiarachchi who assumed duties as the Commander, Security Forces - East paid his maiden first formal field visits to the 24 Infantry Division Headquarters at “Malwatha” - Ampara on 17th and 18th November 2022.

The visiting Commander, Security Forces - East was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wajira Welagedara, on arrival. A Guard Turnout at the main entrances of Divisions Headquarters in keeping with military traditions saluted him. There after the tree planting of saplings as symbols of memory of his visits. The General Officer Commanding conducted a comprehensive briefing on the AOR including the role and tasks and operational readiness of 24 Infantry Division and under command Brigades and Battalions. Subsequently, the Commander Security Forces (East) had a discussion on security and administration issues related to the division with General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Battalion Commanders and Staff Officers of the 24 Infantry Division

Furthermore, he addressed to the Officers and Other Ranks troops of under command 24 Infantry Division and emphasized on continuing professional training and continuation of the good work while maintaining the highest standards of “discipline” at all levels. Further, highlighted personal budget management and personal security, moreover, the importance of implementation of agriculture and cultivation within the AOR to overcome the difficulties in present context. The address was followed up by a tea with all rank. After that Commander, sat for the group photographs in 24 Infantry Division Headquarters. Before concluding the day’s itinerary, Commander shared his valuable thoughts with Officers and pen his Compliments in the visitors’ book. Later, in the evening, the Commander paid a visit to the “Buddangala Raja MahaViharaya”. On 19 November, the second day of his visit, the Commander Security Forces – East, visited the “Deegawapiya Rajamaha Wiharaya” premises to observe the progress of “Deegawapiya Restoration Project” which is being constructed under the supervision of the 24 Infantry Division Headquarters.

Infantry Brigade Commanders under command of 24 Infantry Division, Colonel General Staff, Colonel Administration & Quartering, Senior Staff Officers, Staff Officers of 24 Infantry Division Headquarters, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were participated in the occasion.
