COMMANDER, SECURITY FORCES (EAST) MADE HIS MAIDEN OFFICIAL VISIT TO 24 INFANTRY DIVISION

The Commander Security Forces (East), Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, upon his assumption of office recently, made his maiden visit to the Headquarters 24 infantry Division, Ampara on 3rd, 4th & 5th May 2024.

On his arrival to the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Major General W L A C Perera RWP RSP USP, extended a warm welcome. The time honored military tradition of a Guard Turnout at the entrance added a touch of solemnity to the occasion, setting the tone for the Security Forces (East) Commander's visit. To mark his presence, the Security Forces Commander (East), ceremoniously planted sapling. Capturing the essence of the moment a group photograph was taken in preserving the occasion. Thereafter, a comprehensive briefing was conducted by the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division on the role and task of the Division.

Addressing the troops Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc delivered a stirring speech highlighting the importance of maintaining discipline, professionalism and unwavering dedication at all times. Emphasizing the noble duty of protecting the nation, Commander Security Forces (East), urged the troops to maintain not only high standards of professionalism but also to embody positivity and good will as proud members of the Sri Lanka Army. The well-structured speech instilled a sense of the pride and purpose in the hearts of the troops.

Following the formal proceedings, Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, joined with the soldiers for an all ranks tea. This gave an opportunity for the Commander Security Forces (East), to interact with the soldiers and share his thoughts with them. Concluding the proceedings, Commander Security Forces (East) graciously left his thoughts and signature in the Visitor's Book. Thereafter the newly appointed Commander paid a visit to 241 Infantry Brigade and he left the memory of his official visit to the brigade by planting a sapling there. It was followed by a briefing, on the role and tasks of the Brigade.

On his first day of the visit, Commander Security Forces (East), Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, witnessed the progress of Deegawapiya Restoration Project and bricks project which are being constructed under the supervision of the 24 Infantry Division. He interacted with the officers and men working for the restoration of Deegawapiya and appreciated their commitment and dedication under trying conditions.

Subsequently, Commander Security Forces (East) Major General S A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, visited 14 SLSR, 242, and 243 Infantry Brigades deployed at Sengamuwa, Komari (Pothuvil) and Kallady (Batticaloa) respectively and had briefings and discussions which regards to the security situation and deployment.

The General Officer Commanding the 24 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, senior staff officers of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), Commanding Officers, officers, and other ranks were present at the occasion.
