In a display of leadership and proactive oversight, the Commander Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, carried out an official visit to the Novodawa Treatment Center in Kandakadu, reaffirming the military's commitment to national security and institutional safety. The visit took place on 21 September 2025.
The visit commenced with a high-level security conference, where Major General Pallekumbura engaged in comprehensive discussions with key personnel. The agenda covered a wide spectrum of critical matters, including the current status of inmates and staff, overall security posture, emergency preparedness protocols, and specific operational challenges facing the center.
With an eye for detail and operational efficiency, the Commander then conducted a meticulous field inspection of the facility. He personally assessed the infrastructure, reviewed key checkpoints, and issued a set of clear, actionable directives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of ongoing security measures.
Present during the visit were Major General G.P.P. Kulatilaka, ndc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division Superintendent of Rehabilitation, NTC Kandakadu, Superintendent of Rehabilitation, NTVLTC Senapura, Other senior officers and staff representing the region’s security and rehabilitation framework
