COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (EAST) PAYS FIELD VISITS TO 24 DIVISION, 241 & 242 BRIGADES

Major General Channa Weerasuriya, the newly-appointed Commander Security Force - East made his maiden visits to the 24 Division Headquarters, 241 and 242 Brigade Headquarters during February 12,13 and 14.

Commander Security Force (East) first arrived at the 24 Division Headquarters to be received by Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, General Officer Commanding 24 Division before the visiting Commander was greeted to a Guard Turn Out at the main entrance in conformity with military traditions. Afterwards, the SF-E Commander was invited to plant a ‘Mango’ sapling inside the 24 Divisional Headquarters premises and posed for a group photograph.

Addressing the troops, Major General Channa Weerasuriya appreciated all officers and the other ranks for shouldering the task of executing national responsibility of tackling the COVID -19 pandemic and stressed on the need to ensure continued good health and hygiene among the troops having taken all necessary precautions. He also emphasized the importance of training in different professional aspects of the career and maintenance of the highest standards of discipline at all times.

The Commander SF-E on the same day, visited the 241 Brigade, 242 Brigade and their under command Battalions. The new SF-E Commander during those visits too were saluted to Guard Turn Outs at respective venues after he was warmly welcomed by all the Brigade and Battalion Commanders and they had an opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops during this two-day field visit.

Commander, Security Force-East also paying his obedience to the religious sentiments during his stay in the area called on the Chief Incumbent of Muhudumaha Viharaya Ven. Warakapola Indrasiri Thero and received blessings upon his assumption of the new office. Further, with the objective of further promoting understanding between civil society and the Army the Commander Security Force (East) had a courtesy call on District Secretary Ampara Mr. Mr. D M L Bandaranayake at the District Secretariat and had discussions specially on the ongoing reconstructions of Deegawapiya Stupa.
