COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (EAST) PAYS A FIELD VISIT TO 23 DIVISION AND UNDER COMMAND FORMATIONS

The Commander Security Force (East), Major General Channa Weerasuriya, upon his assumption of office recently, made his maiden visit to the Headquarters 23 Division, 231 Brigade Batticaloa, 232 Brigade Tharavikulam, 233 Brigade Vakarai and under command battalions during 06, 07 and 08 February 2021.

Commander Security Force (East) first arrived at the Headquarters 23 Division and was received by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswatte before the visiting Commander was greeted with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance in conformity with military traditions. Afterwards, the Commander Security Force (East) was invited to plant a sapling in front of the temple premises. Later on, the GOC 23 Div briefed on operational and administrative aspects as well as welfare facilities of the troops where Brigade Commanders and all Battalion Commanders were present.

Addressing the troops, Major General Channa Weerasuriya focused on the importance of training in different professional aspects of the career and maintenance of the highest standards of discipline. During the all rank tea at the Gymnasium premises, the Commander Security Force (East) took time off to mingle with the gathering and inquired into their needs and other welfare measures and left a complementary remark on the visitors' book thereafter.

In the afternoon, the Commander Security Force (East) visited the Headquarters 233 Brigade Vakarai, 6th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, 9th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery respectively including their Company and Battery locations.

The Commander Security Force (East) on 07th and 08th February, visited 231 Brigade, 232 Brigade and their under command Battalions of 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch, 11th Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 12th Battalion of Sri Lanka National Guard. During the visit, all Brigade Commanders, Battalion Commanders, Officers and soldiers had an opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to administration aspects, operational needs, welfare measures and requirements of the troops during this three-day field visit.

At last, the Commander visited Thoppigala, the historic monument of the Humanitarian Operation.
