The Commander Security Force (East), Major General Aruna Jayasekera met the Islamic religious leaders of Ampara District at a meeting held at Islamic Mosque, Nintavur during one of his field visits to 24 Division on Wednesday (19).
The Commander had cordial discussions with Mosque Trustees of Muslim Association Ampara headed by Dr. SMA Azeez, Trustee - Mohideen Jummah Mosque, Kalmunai with an initiative of strengthening peaceful co-existence of the Eastern Province. Further, special concern was drawn on the prevailing security situation of the area and the widely spreading drug menace of the country. The Commander insisted the need to have an effective communication and a close coordination among ethnic / religious groups and armed forces to contribute towards strengthening the security of the area. Further, he highlighted the importance of having dialogues like today which will pave the way for sustainable peace and help everyone to understand their common responsibility towards the peace in the area. Subsequently, the Commander Security Force (East) shared a cup of tea with the Trustees and expressed his pleasure in meeting with them.
