Major Genaral Chanaka Meththananda of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps assumed duties as the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area – East (FMA - E) HQ of the Security Force Headquarters – East on 22 September 2022.
A Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honor soon after his entry in to the premises greeted him in accordance with military formalities before he participated in religious observances.
Major General Chanaka Meththananda placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office amid religious observances and “Pirith chanting”. Afterwards, he was invited to plant a tree sapling at the venue to mark the significance of the day.
All Staff Officers, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the occasion.
