THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY LIEUTENANT GENERAL RMD RATNAYAKE WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc VISITED SF HQ (E)
The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc visited The HQSF (E) to deliver his year ending address to SFHQ (EAST) troops and to offer Alms for Maha Sanga in the area which was organized by the Commander SF HQ (E) Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG.
On his arrival Commander SF HQ (E) Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG warmly welcomed him and then Commander of the Army made his speech to an audience comprised of 274 officers and 3517 other ranks. All Division Commanders, Brigade Commanders, Logistics Commander, Commandants of Army Trg Schools in the SF HQ (East) AOR and Battalion Commanders were participated for the occasion.
At the outset of his speech he appreciated the contribution made by all troops to eradicate the three decades long terrorism from the country and reminded the hardships and agony that the troops were experienced during the said period. He also emphasized the significance of National security, discipline and explained the ongoing welfare measures (SuwaSahana Loan Scheme, Insurance Scheme, Financial Assistance to build houses for needy soldiers, better accommodation, food and clothing etc) that had been initiated by the Army Headquarters for the best interests of the troops, with the blessing of the President and the Secretary of Defence and Urban Development.
He also highlighted the efforts made to uplift the sports skill of troops, with regard to the sports training for serving as well as those who get their retirement in near future and the concept of job bank.
Later, Commander of the Army addressed the Buddhist monks of Polonnaruwa District at the SFHQ (East) officers’ mess and offered Alms for Maha Sanga followed by Ata Pirikara Pooja. There were 186 Buddish Monks participated for the occasion.
