CLEARING PROGRAM AT THE COASTAL BELT KALMUNAI AREA TO CONSERVE THE COASTAL ENVIRONMENT

The coastal area at Kalmunai is highly polluted due to the discarded wrappers, plastic bottles, and polythene and it is caused to pollute the beautiful of coastal area.

With the guidance of General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc and the coordination of Commander 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel LSDN Pathirathna RSP USP, the 18th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops conducted beach cleaning program at the Kalmunai beach at 0600 hours to 0800 hours on 14th July 2023 with the contribution of Civilians in the area. About 60 civilians and 10 x 80 troops participated in this event including General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division and Commander 241 Infantry Brigade.
