Under the direction of Brigadier H.K.S Thilakaratne, Commander of the 222 Infantry Brigade, the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted a cleaning programme at the Sri Sitthara Velayudham Swamy Kovil on 25 September 2024.
The initiative followed the annual puja held from 11 to 18 September, which saw large crowds of devotees, leaving the temple grounds littered with debris. Troops from the 222 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, 9th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, along with residents in the area participated in the effort.
