According to the concept of the Commander 22 Infantry Division, Major General PAM Peiris RSP USP psc and under the supervision of the Commander 223 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier YHP Rangajeewa USP, and the instructions and guidance of the Commanding Officer 15 SLLI, Lt Col NC Marasingha, 15th Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops, with the collaboration of Kantale 95 Gantalawa Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, organized and conducted a Christmas Carol programme for the Christian devotees of the area on 27 December 2023.
The Commander, 22 Infantry Division, Major General PAM Peiris RSP USP psc was the Chief Guest of this Christmas event and started with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp in the presence of the invited guests. The event was graced with dance performances by Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian children. In the meantime, the arrival of Santa Claus, which is one of the most unique aspects of the event. Further, reverend Father George Dissanayake, the head priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, expressed his heartfelt thanks to battalion as well as to the entire Army in appreciation of this noble programme carried out for the Christian people of the area.
