CHRISTMAS ANGELIC EVE 2017

To shape individual culture and to enhance cross cultural understanding, the Christian community of BATTICALOA along with 231 Brigade Organized \'Christmas Angelic Eve 2017\' with the supervision of 23 Division and Security Force Headquarters (East) on 22 December at Gandhi Park, BATTICALOA.\r\n \r\nHis Lordship Bishop of BATTICALOA Rt Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah, the Governor of the Eastern Province Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama, Commander Security Force East Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, the Government Agent - BATTICALOA Mr. M. Uthyakumar, General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Chula Abenayake, Commander 231 Brigade Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella, Commander 232 Brigade Colonel Roshan Jayamanna, the Commissioner - Municipal Council BATTICALOA Mr. N. Manivannan honored the programme by their presence amidst a gathering of distinguished invitees.\r\n \r\nThe welcome note was readout by Rev. Fr. Sulaxan followed by the welcome dance adding festive atmosphere to the occasion. The event was made more solemn with the religious observances and Christmas message was delivered by His Lordship Bishop of BATTICALOA Rt Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah reminding the gathering of the true meaning of Christmas. The Choirs of AMPARA Church, Navatkudah Church, Soori Kalmunai Church, St. Cecilia College along with the Army Choir sang odes and hymns jointly to the Prince of the Peace, Jesus Christ and few cultural items also were performed symbolizing the birth of Jesus Christ.\r\n\r\nAddressing the gathering, the Commander Security Forces East Major General Santhusitha Pananwala extended his greetings on the joyous occasion of Christmas and made everyone ponder that we need to continue giving, sharing and being kind to all citizens of this country and all those who live in the world since the Christmas is all about giving, sharing and being kind to one another. Further, he requested all to follow the preaching of Jesus Christ and make a conscious effort to bring ethnic and religious harmony among people in this country. \r\n
