As a concept and directions of Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi and close supervision of the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East Major General Chanaka Mettananda, the Inter Division Badminton tournament of Security Forces - East was organized by Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East. The final ceremony of the Inter-Division Badminton tournament for the year of 2022 was held in the Sports complex of 3rd Corps of Engineers Services on 28th December 2022.
The Badminton tournament is another main event which the Officers and Other Ranks are looking forward to exhibit their talents and enhance the team spirit through the competitiveness. The Security Force Headquarters - East, Forward Maintenance Area - East and three main Divisions; 22Div, 23Div, 24Div, battled competitively for the championship,the tournament held under 06 categories Single and dual matches were held on 17th,18th,19th December 2022, then the 23 Division emerged as the Champion Division whilst Security Force Headquarters - East became the runner - up during the competitive final match which was held on 28th December 2022.The champions and runner - up were awarded trophies, medals and certificates by the Commander Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East and the GOCs attended for the event.
Furthermore, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East Major General Chanaka Mettananda graced the occasion as the chief guest. All the General Officer Commanders of the respective Infantry divisions, Brigadier General Staff and Brigadier Administration & Quartering of the Security Forces Headquarters - East,Infantry Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks participated in the finale ceremony of the Inter Division Badminton Tournament year of 2022.Towards the end of the presentation ceremony Chief Guest stood for a group photograph with the Winners.
