A BRANCH OF JAYA SRI MAHA BODHI WAS PLANTED IN KAUDAGALA ANCIENT TEMPLE

The “Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi” is a sacred tree in “Mahamewna” Gardens, Anuradhapura. It is said to be the right - wing branch from the historical “Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi” at “Buddha Gaya” in India under which “Lord Buddha” attained enlightenment. Today it is one of the most sacred relics of the Buddhists in Sri Lanka and respected by Buddhists all over the world. A branch of “Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi” was planted by the Commander Security Forces - East, Major General Priyantha Jayawardene in the sacred “Kaudagala” Ancient Temple at Welikanda, under the religious observation, In parallel with the “Katina Chivara Pooja” in the year of 2022, On Saturday (15).

This invaluable religious programme was arranged under the guidelines and supervisions of the Commander Security Forces - East The sacred tree was brought to the sacred “Kawdagala” Aranya Senasana Ancient Temple premises by a colorful procession including many other traditional items, Meritorious act was conducted by Ven: Devagala Pargnasrilankara Thero, Chief Prelate of the “Kawdagala” Aranya Senasana Ancient Temple.

Furthermore, the Chief Prelate of the “Kawdagala” Aranya Senasana Ancient Temple with Maha Sanga, Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage and Magistrate in Colombo, Mr. Thilina Gamage, Resident Project Manager of Mahaweli “H” Zone, Mr. Indika Ranaweera, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from Security Forces - East and Villagers were attended to the Occasion. The programme was coordinated by the Chief Coordinating Civil Affair Officer, Security Forces - East, Colonel Rajive Fernando.
