In parallel to the island wide coastal belt clean-up project organized by the Sri Lanka Army along with the Marine Environmental Protection Authority, several beach clean-up campaigns conducted in the Security Forces (East) area as well.
Thus, troops of 22 Division engaged in cleaning the coastal areas of Kinniya, Sampoor, Trincomalee Orr’s Hill, Muthur, Verugal and Uppural while 23 Division conducted campaigns to clean Wakarai, Kayankerny, Kalkudah, Challathiv areas and 24 Division launched the project at aesthetic costal belt from Arugambay to Kalmunai about 60 km with the support of Combat Training School Ampara and Recruit Training School, Sandunpura.
Troops commenced the project at 0630 hrs and lasted till 1530 hrs and members of Municipal Councils in respective areas also took part in these campaigns.
