ARMY MOBILE VACCINATION DRIVE COVERS NINDAVUR & KARATIVU

The Army mobile COVID-19 vaccination fleet that prioritizes the vaccination of the elderly, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in society over 60 years of age in Ampara District started its inoculation in the Karative and Nindavur areas on Thursday (26), covering 17 GS divisions in Karativu and 25 GS divisions in Nindavur. The arrangement was fully supported by the Security Force Headquarters - East on the directions of Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - East.

This mobile programme convenient to the elderly people who may need to depend on someone to get to vaccination centres in Karative & Nindavur areas. This will be opportunity since elderly ones are more vulnerable to the virus infection and help to prevent the infection rates in AOR. Ordinary civilians and recipients of the vaccine are full of praise to the Army for the arrangement and the mobile vaccination drive expects to cover the whole of the Karative and Nindavur Areas within few days after vaccinating the entire elderly population in the AOR in close collaboration with MOH offices, PHIs, Grama Niladaris (GN) and respective other agencies.

The vaccination programe was carried out by Army Medical troops and 3rd Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops. This programe was supervised by the General Officer Commanding of 24 Infantry Division, Major General A C Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP, Brigade Commander of 241 Infantry Brigade, Colonel A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP and Commanding Officer of 3rd Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major D G W M S P Wijekoon psc .
