ARMY-INITIATED MOBILE VACCINATION DRIVE LAUNCHES IN THE EASTERN PROVINCE

Extending the Army-initiated mobile vaccination drive for elderly people above 60 years of age, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in the society, Security Force Headquarters (East) launched Eastern Province-based mobile vaccination fleet covering the entire districts of Ampara, Trincomalee and Batticaloa on Monday (23).

This mobile vaccination service is a concept of General Shavendra Silva, Head of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and it was initiated in the Eastern province by 22, 23 and 24 Divisions on the directions of the Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Channa Weerasuriya. This programme will continue to be operational throughout the province within next few days and special vehicles with medical teams of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) will accordingly administer the vaccine visiting doorsteps.
