"ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" the three-day sports and Athletic Tournament, organized by the Security Force Headquarters – East, which was held at National Sports Complex, Polonnaruwa was concluded on 28TH June 2014. Athletic teams representing all Formations of the Eastern theatre along with dozens of invited school athletes from the eastern region. have taken part at the Athletic Meet which was the first Inter Divisions Sports Event organized at Security Forces level in the history of the Army, Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake WWV RWP RSPUSP ndu psc, the Commander of the Army ,graced the closing Ceremony of ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014 . An Exhibition depicting the Army Sports story was held at National Sports Complex, Polonnaruwa. Along with "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014". ARMY EASTERN GAMES was organized as a concept of Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake WWV RWP RSPUSP ndu psc, the Commander of the Army and as per the guidance of Major General SAAL Perera RWP RSP USP ndu IG, Commander Security forces (East), with an aim to highlight and develop the sporting skills of soldiers and groom them to take part in National and International events. 23 Division became the Champions of "ARMY EASTERN GAMES 2014" while 22 Division became runners up.
