ANOTHER PLOTS OF LAND RELEASED IN AMPARA AND TRINCOMALEE

In keeping with the government’s policy of releasing lands of civilians, another set of military held land in Ampara and Trincomalee districts in Security Forces (East) region were released to their legitimate owners, during a brief ceremony held at the Governor’s Office Trincomalee on Monday, 25 March 2019.

As the fourth phase of the land releasing process of Security Forces (East), Major General Aruna Jayasekera, the Commander Security Forces (East) symbolically handed over relevant certificates of land clearance to Hon. M L A M Hizbullah - the Governor of the Eastern Province, Mr. J S D M A Abeywardana - Secretary to the Governor, Mr. N Pradeepan - Assistant District Secretary Trincomalee, Mr. C U Nanayakkara - Assistant District Secretary Ampara at the presence of Major General Mahinda Mudalige - General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Major General Nevil Weerasinghe - General Officer Commanding 22 Division, Brigadier Wanditha Mahinkanda - Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ(East), Colonel Priyantha Kariyawasam - Commander 221 Brigade and several Senior Officers were among the gathering.

As the three plots, 03 acres in Thiriyaya in Kuchchaveli DS Division, 0.5 acres in Periyanilaweli in Ampara - Kalmunai DS Division and a state land of 02 acres in Thirukkovil area were handed over to the legitimate owners at the ceremony and the Security Forces (East) would continue releasing lands in several phases.

The Commander Security Force (East) Major General Aruna Jayasekera directed to expedite releasing military-held lands in the Eastern Province, where the three communities live, adding a historic chapter to the government’s ongoing projects of reconciliation and ethnic harmony.

The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of people including the beneficiaries.
