With the aim of fostering goodwill between the Sri Lanka Army and the civilian population, as well as uplifting the living standards of underprivileged communities, a housing project was launched under the coordination of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch.
Funded by a donation from a Contributor, the construction of the house was carried out under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 7th Light Regiment of the Sri Lanka Artillery, with the manpower contribution of troops. The project commenced on 24th June 2025 in Paluwaddana Grama Niladhari Division, Hingurakgoda, Polonnaruwa, for a low-income family who did not have a shelter.
The completed house was officially handed over to the beneficiary family on 11 September 2025, under the leadership of Major General K V N P Premarathne RSP USP nps psc, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery, along with Mrs. Vindhya Premarathne, President of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch.
Furthermore, a number of dignitaries participated in this occasion, including the Divisional Secretary of Hingurakgoda, several Government Officials, Brigadier T G I A Ariyarathna RSP IG, Commander of the Sri Lanka Artillery Brigade, Brigadier S D K W M M I Welivita RWP RSP USP psc, Commander of the 231 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers including the Commanding Officer of the 7th Light Regiment,Officers and Other Ranks and many members of the Sri Lanka Artillery Seva Vanitha Branch.
