In conducted with the 78th Independence Day celebrations, the youth of the Thirukkovil Divisional Secretariat and the troops of this unit cleaned and maintained the Uthayasooriyan Ground, and as per the instructions of the Army, a friendly cricket tournament was organized between the sports clubs of the Thirukkovil Divisional Secretariat on 04.02.2026 from 1300hrs to 1800hrs. The tournament was held with the participation of the Divisional Secretariat - Thirukkovil, the Pradeshiya Sabha - Thirukkovil the Zonal Education Office - Thirukkovil and Sponsored by People's Bank - Thirukkovil.
Accordingly, lunch, refreshments, and snacks were provided to all the teams that participated in the respective cricket tournament. Trophies and awards were presented to the winning teams for the championship, runner-up, best batsman, best bowler, and man of the tournament, and certificates were distributed to all the participating team members.
This Programwas conducted under the direction and the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Maj Gen WMNKD Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc, and Brigade Commander 242 Infantry Brigade Brig KGAT Kalakorale RSP with the close supervision of Commanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard Maj KD LiyanageSLNG.
