234 Infantry Brigade troops of the 23 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters (East) launched a programme to distribute school accessories, each pack worth over Rs. 3000.00 for 77 students studying at Galoya Maha Vidyalaya Galoya, during a simple occasion on Thursday (Jan 19), held at the school main hall. This was made possible through the kind patronage of Mr. Prasad Lokubalasooriya tutor of the Gampaha area.
The project was headed by Brigadier Chandima Kumarasinghe, Commander 234 Infantry Brigade in keeping with directions and guidance given by Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, and close supervision of General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Major General Shewanth Kulathunga. It was jointly implemented by Lieutenant Colonel Nishshanka Ramanayake, Commanding Officer 7 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment. 234 Infantry Brigade civil affairs officer, Lieutenant Colonel Udaya Navarathna attended the distribution ceremony as the chief guest along with Commanding Officer, 7 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment and several Officers, Other Ranks, principals, and tutorial staff.
