Major General Prasanna Gunaratne laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new house for needy family living in Wadichchalaya, Kaduruwela area on 25 February 2024. The simple ceremony was attended by the recipient’s family, villagers and military personnel under command to Security Forces Headquarters (East).
The lucky recipient of the new house is an underprivileged family residing at Palugasdamana, area of the Thamankaduwa Divisional Secretariat Division. The project is an initiative taken by the Commanding Officer, 7th Artillery Regiment under the guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne – Commander, Security Forces (East). Major General Nilantha Premaratne, General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division and Brigadier Pradeep Kulathilaka, Commander 231 Infantry Brigade attended the ceremony on the invitation of the Commanding Officer, 7th Artillery Regiment.
The troops of the 7th Artillery Regiment provide necessary manpower and technical support for this worthy project with the financial assistance of the generous philanthropists of the area.
