The Raid Amazones - 2018, the 18th edition of the world’s biggest adventure challenge for ladies which is now underway in the East coast of Sri Lanka in and around Passikuda, Thoppigala and Kalkudah areas whilst enjoying the beautiful environment and enthralling culture of our country. This multi-sport adventure event that consists of cycling, canoeing and running, was conducted from 11 to 18 October testing the skill, determination and teamwork of the contestants.
Security Forces (East) facilitated one of their major events, a 48 km cycling event,23 km running event and 9 km beach run which were held at the Thoppigala, kiran and kalkudah beach areas (232 Brigade area) under the supervision of Commander 232 Brigade, Colonal Roshan Jayamanna on 15,17 and 18 October 2018. It took place with the participation of 270 foreign ladies and 03 Women's Corps girls of 5(v) SLAWC, S/5R00946 Sgt Gamage SL, S/5R01444 L/C Nilmini WA, S/R100551 Pte Ruwammalee JMGP who were the only Sri Lankan ladies given the opportunity to participate in this event representing the host country.
This adventurous ladies' event has been conducted twice in Dambulla previously in 2004 and 2009. Earlier other editions have been conducted in Guyana, Reunion Island, Mauritius, Kenya, Mayotte, Malaysia, Cambodia, Bali and California.
