A series of programmes were organized from 05 to 10 February 2023 to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the 5 Volunteer Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps. Anniversary celebrations were held giving prominence to religious functions and activities with the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel Suminda Hettiarachchi the Commanding Officer of the Battalion.
Boodi Pooja programme was held on 05 February at the temple of Headquarters Security Force (East) and the almsgiving programme was held on 06 February at the Battalion Headquarters premises with the participation of 07 monks around Walikanda area. the volleyball tournament was held on the 07 February evening to enhance sisterhood among the soldiers.
The Anniversary celebrations culminated on Friday (February 10) with a colorful Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade accorded to Lieutenant Colonel Suminda Hettiarachchi the Commanding Officer of the Battalion by the troops the Battalion. On the Battalion day afternoon held the All Rank lunch and finally, the evening held the musical show at the playground on the battalion premises.
The Commanding Officer, Second in Command, and Officers of the Battalion, and all Other ranks have participated in the progarmmes held for the 24th Anniversary of the Battalion.
