On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, the Commander of the Army initiated a housing project aimed at supporting low-income families. As part of this initiative, the 3rd Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps with the supervision of Commanding Officer Major BDR Perera psc Lsc AATO undertook the renovation of a house for Mr. N. Podisinghno, a resident of No. 46, Dewana Piyawara, Dimbulagala. The family was identified as deserving assistance following consultations with the mahanayaka Thero of Dimbulagala Temple and relevant government officials.
The project was executed under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (East) Major General SA Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, and the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Regiment, Major BDR Perera psc Lsc AATO, oversaw the renovation with the dedicated support of all ranks of the unit.
All ranks of 3SLAOC collective efforts culminated in a formal handing over ceremony held on 20th November 2024 with the presence of commander Security Force Headquarters (East) Major General SA Kulatunga RWP RSP VSV USP psc , GOC 23 Infantry Division Major General WP Kariyawasam, Commander Logistics Command (East) Brigadier WMSN Wijekoon ndc AATO and commanding officer 3 SLAOC major BDR Perera psc Lsc AATO with several government officials. This initiative stands as a testament to the Sri Lanka Army’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities and uplifting the lives of those in need.
