241 BRIGADE AND 242 BRIGADE ORGANIZED A MOBILE MEDICAL AND EYE CARE CAMPAIGN

As per the direction given by the Commander Security Forces – East, Major General Priyantha Jayawardane and the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Major General Saliya Amunugama, the troops of 241 Infantry Brigade and the 242 Infantry Brigade organized a “Mobile Medical and Eye Care Campaign” on 18 September 2022.

Accordingly, 281 patients were benefited during the medical campaign and 184 patients were selected to receive the spectacles and contact lenses in due course. All the patients were selected on the basis of economical state of low income families in the area of Thirukkowil, Pothuvil and Lahugala DS Divisions.

Commanders of the 241 and 242 Infantry Brigades, Brigadier Chandra Abeykoon and Colonel Anuruddha Solangaarachchi and the Commanding Officer of 8 SLNG 16 SLNG Major Sajeewa Amadoru and Major Manjula Alawatta coordinated the medical campaign with the assistance offered by the Help Age Sri Lanka - Boralesgamuwa. Lieutenant Colonel Prasanna De Silva, Civil Coordinating Officer of 242 Infantry Brigade together with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were also present at the event.
