The 24 Infantry Division, under the leadership of Major General WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP, proudly organized a donation program aimed at supporting theunder-resourced Amp/Galkanda Primary School. This initiative, held on 28 October 2024, was made possible through the generous financial assistance of the MostVenerable Royal Pandithdigamadulle Wimalananda Thero and Sakya Youth GroupBerwick, Melbourne, Australia. The program saw the distribution of essentialstationary items and musical instruments for the school band, significantlycontributing to the educational resources available to the students. The Col GS SFHQ (West) Colonel Dammika Jayarathna and professor kaumadi Karunagoda, whoseefforts ensured a seamless execution of the donation, meticulously coordinated theevent.
In his opening remarks, Major General Pereraemphasisedthe importance ofeducation and how such contributions can make a profound difference in the lives ofchildren in low-facility schools. He acknowledged the partnership with the Sakya Youth Group, expressing gratitude for their commitment to improving education inthe region.
