THE 24 INFANTRY DIVISION ORGANIZED A LECTURE ON CYBERCRIMES

The lecture was organized according to the directions and guidance of the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Major General WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP in order to enhance the knowledge of cybercrime among the Officers and Other Ranks in the division.

In a proactive measure to bolster cyber security awareness, the 24 Infantry Division recently organized an insightful lecture on cybercrimes on 05 June 2024. The event aimed to educate military personnel about the evolving threats in the digital landscape and the necessary measures to counter them, and 05 x 100 participated in this lecture.

The lecture was a part of the division's ongoing efforts to integrate modern technological understanding within its ranks. Recognizing that cyber threats have become as critical as physical threats, the division sought to provide comprehensive knowledge on various aspects of cybercrimes, including hacking, phishing, identity theft, and ransom ware attacks. One of the primary goals of the lecture was to equip attendees with practical tips to safeguard against cyber threats

The session featured expert speakers from the police station - Ampara, including renowned cybercrime investigators and IT security professionals (Main Speaker - Inspector RM Madduma Bandara). They shared real-world examples of cyber-attacks, highlighting the sophistication and potential damage these crimes can inflict. The speakers also emphasized the importance of staying updated with the latest cyber security practices and tool.
