24 INFANTRY DIVISION CONDUCTED A COORDINATING CONFERENCE WITH DISASTER MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS – AMPARA

In light of potential disastrous situations in Ampara and Batticaloa districts, the General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, Maj Gen WLAC Perera RWP RSP USP called a meeting with the officials of District Disaster Management Coordinating Units in Ampara and Batticalo districts on 03 June 2024 at Headquarters 24 Infantry Division.

Officials engaged in discussion on possible disaster situation affecting the area, such as floods, droughts, tsunami, human-wild elephant conflicts and wildfires. The aim of this conference is to formulate disaster response plan and mechanism to face on previously mentioned disaster situations in the future.

The conference was presided over by the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, and Colonel General Staff, General Staff Officer 1 (Coord), Mr MACM Riyaz (Deputy Director – District Disaster Management Coordinating Units–Ampara and Batticaloa districts), Mr. Eranda Gunasekara, Mr. C Muhundanand officials from District Disaster Management Coordinating Units in Ampara and Batticalo districts were attended.
