On account of the forthcoming 69th Army Anniversary and the Army Day (Oct 10), flag marches organized by 24 Division got underway in Ampara, Akkaraipattu and Pottuvil towns on 06,07 and 08 October respectively. In the vision of Commander of the Army and with the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General Mahinda Mudalige supervised the events which were carried out parallel to the series of proceedings organized by the Army island wide.
Hundreds of Army representatives of 24 Division attired in glittering dresses marched with flags of 24 Division, 241 Brigade, 242 Brigade, 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 8 Sri Lanka National Guard, 11 Sri Lanka National Guard and 16 Sri Lanka National Guard around the towns with magnificent pomp and pageantry and the spirit of pride. Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Officers accompanied the troops.
